Fforde :: The Eyre Affair
I've just completed Jasper Fforde's book The Eyre Affair. This is the first in a series based around the character Thursday Next, a literary detective.
Set in a parallel universe, 1985, the series promises to improve over the next few books. Terry Pratchett, one of my favourite authors, rates Fforde highly. Indeed, Fforde uses many of the same techniques as Pratchett especially, in my opinion, echoing the earlier discworld novels based around the witches interference in fairy stories.
Although I had them recommended to me around a year ago, I only just recently got onto them. These books will almost certainly reward reading.
