Good stuff, Helen

The elections over, the meetings long, the coalition formed. After just over a month, Aotearoa has a government again.

I think Helen's done a good job with the hand she was dealt. For various reasons, my vote was posted in the hope of keeping the Greens out. I'm glad that, for different reasons, they are not an official part of the coalition. I can empathise with their anger.

Peter Dunne and United Future will continue to do a good job of bringing "common sense", or at least be a centring influence. I think they did a great job over the last term; they achieved their main goals and provided a stable coalition (unlike the Greens before them). I truly hope they won't go the way of Jim Anderton and be reduced to a single MP in the next election. I think they ought to make a little more noise this term and make sure people are aware of their work.

As for Winston...who can tell? At least things won't be boring. I'm a bit worried about him being given charge of immigration though. We desperately need it, and not only in my industry.

My last political post (More on the 'Religious Right', here) continues to be of our most visited pages. We have another labour-led government, what are your thoughts?

Hey Craig,

It's good to see the Greens receive what their bad karma must mete out ;-)

However I am still very much wary of Labour. I'm sure some MPs will still try to mess with common sense morals and economic policies, but at least hopefull there would be less impetus to do so.
