Crashed and cut

What a day yesterday was...I had my stupid looking half-dreads-half-hair look since I had spent a few hours pulling them out on Wednesday night. I was on my way to the haidresser when, around 9am someone decided I'd make a nice hood ornament.

Half an hour later we were pulling into Auckland emergency services where Linda met me and we checked in until 4:30. After a lot of waiting I finally got x-rayed and they let me take the neck brace off (no neck/spinal injuries is a good thing) and have something to eat along with some nice little pills.

Thanks to all the people that attended the accident. Thanks to the cops, ambulance staff and hospital staff. Thanks to Linda. Thanks to family/friends for not sending flowers. That's a good thing!

So here I sit, typing one-handed (fractured right scaphoid) and no hope of Piha for another 6 weeks. It takes so long to type; if anyone knows of free/open voice-to-text software please let me know! I'm considering $180 for ilisten, but that's steep!

And my hair? It now looks like this:

Sorry for the poor quality pics, my camera is locked inside the scooter which is being assessed by the insurance company. On the plus side, Linda bought me Fat Freddy's Drop: Based on a true story, which I have wanted for months! Yay for good kiwi music!

Dude, that isn't good news :(

I guess you've now acquired a full gamut of the scooter ownership experience, both the highs and the lows?

Mainly lows...although I love riding them. I'm waiting for the insurance to come through so I can start shopping for a new one ;)

So it's a write-off then?

Ayeaiaye. Hope your hand recovers well. Nothing else hurt?

Good on ya for wanting to get back on the horse and ride again. I know I'd be straight back to 4 wheeled modes of transportation.

I've heard good things about ViaVoice for OSX - it's still fairly pricey.

Or there's good ol' open source software on Linux - somehow I'm thinking this just means more stress on your hand as you install it and get it working. This option would be XVoice.

Take care man.

Still waiting for the insurance company to get in touch.

As far as pain goes, I have lots to medicate...the noirmal bruises, sctratches and muscle pain. The only serious damage is the scaphoid, though.

Thanks for caring.
