where moisture and mold destroy

I've had reason to ponder a lot of the New Testament lately; I'm studying it at Uni for one thing. But lately it invaded my life again...

Our insurance company is great for many things...keeping us poor for one thing. But our contents policy doesn't cover books. And around 50% of our assets are books.

Since we moved house two months ago, around eight boxes of said items were being stored under Linda's mums house. We had the chance to move them into more secure storage, so we headed over there last weekend to pick them up.

The multi-coloured life-forms growing on the boxes were certainly enjoying the moisture...

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth,
where moth and rust destroy,
and where thieves break in and steal.

But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where moth and rust do not destroy,
and where thieves do not break in and steal.

(Matt 6:19-20 NIV)

I love our collection of books and think they're important resources in fulfilling our life goals. I think as long as we keep our priorities straight it's OK. And I've had lots of time to think about priorities over the last few days whilst spreading books around an enclosed, heated, dehumidified space.
